It girl of the moment, Alexa Chung has been popping up every where in recent times; both in countless gossip mags and in this weeks debuting Australian GRAZIA magazine. The half british, half chinese socialite and tv presenter is recognised mainly for her stylish outfits and group of fellow it girls ranging from the Geldorf sisters to her current high profile boyfriend, Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkey's. Her cute and signature hair-cut combined with her stunning looks and cool aesthetic are what give this it girl her "it"! These are the reasons why Alexa Chung is S.A.A.'s It girl of the Month.

Batman, duna nana duna nana, Batman! This small tune which resonates strongly with my childhood, tempting my inner super hero to be real for one fleeting moment. This strong sense of childhood memories and box office gold has unknowingly translated into recent sartorial play for fashionistas alike! Luella's spring collection held the strong batman motif used both in the subtleness of a logo motif on cardigans and in strong force through the use of capes and masks in the trademark black bat shaped silhouette. With this in light of the recently acclaimed and praised Batman movie, The Dark Night, it's clearly going to be a strong hit in the coming months with retail chain urban outfitters already doing a take on the trend quickly gaining speed.

Paper Birkin...

My god I have soooooo much to talk about and have been so hard at work I mean wow the amount of content and research that I've been through both last night and in the last hour is amazing and you can tell by the huge amount of blogs that I've added to my list down the side there that I'm not exaggerating! So, I'll do one quick post before I go to bed and then I'll reveal the rest of my overstuffed yet exhilarated brain in the next few days/posts!

Ok, so I've known about this little project for a while yet have been putting it off and putting it off until today I remembered it and decided to explore. Explore what you say? Well hermes's amazing cut out Hermes Birkin bags of course!! The cute little paper cut outs are exact replicas of the real deal only they're a fraction of the size and cost but with much cuter designs on the sides!
So here is what mine turned out like:

MBFF Here I come!!!!

As the title suggests, yes, I am going to the Mercedes Benz Brisbane Fashion Festival which runs from the 24th to the 29th of August, and am sooooooo v v v v excited! Well, technically I'm only going to one show but it's my first fashion show EVER and am so pumped. Seriously you could not even begin to wonder how ecstatic I am about this! But my excitement level probably isn't all that interesting for you guys so I'll tell you that I will be attending the first group show which will include garments from the likes of Nicola Finetti, See by Chloe, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Camilla and Marc, Josh Goot and Marnie Skillings. Are you drooling yet because if not there's something seriously wrong with you! Anyway I can't wait to go with my best friends who will all be looking fantastic just like me!

Luella a lil Treasure...

Here it is, the second headband that I made which is modeled by a great friend of mine, Ms. Rosie. This headband I crafted solely for the purpose of school just because it was so preppy. The design is a copy of the signature headbands by fashion brand, Luella. In case you live under a rock, Luella is quite like the edgy little prepster that would sit at the back of the classroom yelling and making paper aeroplanes yet somehow maintain an A grade average whilst rocking huge thick rimmed glasses! As I promised yesterday I have the photo of the Alannah Hill headband I made and wore today at school. So without further adieu, here it is;
BTW it came to life more when I was wearing it, and the verdict on whether it was a hit would have to be yes and no. Yes because even teachers liked it and their the ones that are supposed to tell me to take it off, and no-in a good way though-because some people just didn't know what to say except, "wow, that's a really big bow!", well der! I also got a couple of shocked reactions when I told people that I'd made it mysef, people were kind of like 'are you serious?' like I wasn't capable of producing something so well made!

Hope you like, oh and by the way I've also made a copy of Luella's signature headbands which also turned out fantastic and which is my favourite which I'll post about tomorrow!

OMG OMG OMG! I am sooo excited at the moment! Why? Well because of the newest Australian fashion magazine to hit the stands, GRAZIA, of course! The new WEEKLY magazine promises to have the same amount of fashion content-40-60 pages of fashion editorials-as the monthly magazines but instead with the speed of a weekly. Doesn't that just spell heaven to you? Anyway I can't wait to pick up this weeks first copy starring Kate Moss on the front with the words,"Kate Partying away the Pain", emblazoned on the front and not to mention the fantastic shoot inside featuring model, Louise Van De Vorst-quite the Russh magazine favourite.

Unless you'd like to buy it for me, I'll be picking up a copy before the next issue comes out on monday.

DIY: Alannah Hill Headband

Just a bit of an update on all things related to fashion and myself, recently I embarked upon the mission to make an exact replica of this Alannah Hill grosgrain bow headband that my friends and I found. So as you do on a mission you have people who want to join in the fun, people being my friend, J, who wanted a copy of it too. So, being the wonderful friend that I am I agreed to make her the same as what I was doing for myself. Which was, one blue -for school aka Blair Waldorf style- and one in the original emerald green which I have to say looked hot with my red hair (oh she's so modest!). Therefore, I hunted around for all of the materials, and I mean hunted because by god it is hard to find the perfect size emerald green grosgrain ribbon! But eventually my friend and I found everything I needed and I went home happy as pie to make fifty thousand of these headbands (fifty thousand being four in this instance), little did I know the work ahead of me! And in saying that I have to admit though that it was all worth it. In the end after at least 10hours work, I had four perfect replicas of the amazing emerald green, grosgrain ribboned, velvet covered originals minus the hefty $120 price tag. Now you have to admit, that is talent and determination if you ever saw it (there's that modesty again)!

So after all of the effort and fun I had making the headbands tomorrow is the decider as to whether anyone else will like my handy work, when I strut into school aka Blair style sporting my new baby blue number. Will it be a hit or will I just be left loving it by myself, who knows, but what's more is, WHO CARES CAUSE I KNOW WHAT'S BEST!

Lily Cole for Playboy?

Lily Cole, the red headed supermodel infamous for her more recent exploits in some racier editorials, suprising amount of intelligence (Lily is a Cambridge Freshman studying something smarty pants like) and her appearance in the tween movie, St. Trinians, is set to star in the November issue of French Playboy. Lily is the next fashion model since Lou Dillion to pose for the magazine and it is expected to be quite a hit not just among the male audience but with fashion industry types as well, following in Lou's footsteps.
Can't wait to see how this turns out, can you?

I am currently talking to my friend, M, at the moment and wanted to get her opinion on whether or not she liked these orgasmic heels from Burberry (ok, so now you know how I feel). Now M is not the most involved in what brand of jeans or shoes something is, and this is what she said about them,

" They're kind of like those shoes that you see in an old second hand store and you think what the hell were they thinking?"

In other words, M, was not that impressed by them. So this got me wondering, what you guys might think because I mean they're obviously highly topical shoes and what might be one person's cup of tea is not anothers. So tell me, to like, or not to like? This is the question.

Guess who I found in a thrift store at Paddington? Catherine McNeil circa 2003/04 Queensland Brides cover? What the buck? Thank god she went back to her roots-brown (pun intended). Still, she is completely gorgeous!

And yes I did buy the magazine just to upload the cover, but whatever I don't care I mean come on it's early-days-of-supermodel-Catherine!

Alice Dellal....the next aggy?

Alice Dellal, a girl most recognizable for her punk rockability and edgy hair cut-sound familiar *ahem*Agness Deyn-is on the rise to model status. With the current crop of doppelganger models like that of Lily, Julia, Caroline, Sasha and Gemma, Alice is one model who's face you won't forget or confuse anytime soon. The model/socialite has started popping up all over the shop lately; and with her recently rumored take over as the new face of lingerie giant Agent Provocateur (one of the most elusive contracts in the business) from supermodel, Kate Moss, it isn't likely that she'll be fading anytime soon.

Love her, Hate her? I'd like to know you're thoughts! Realistically I'm not sure how far she'll make it with all the partying that she's hard at but, for a while maybe I think she is what we've been waiting for with the current lean towards the grunge of the 90's!

Catherine McNeil...a Vogue Girl?

Cathrine McNeil is said to have received the seal of approval from legendary Vogue-editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour recently according to her agent, Stephen Lee. Lee, who was contacted by the Sunday Telegraph after a meeting with Wintour, stated that,

"In the meeting, Anna said she wants Catherine to be an absolute, total Vogue girl, no Harper’s or anying else - just Vogue. Anna says Catherine epitomizes everything that Vogue wants to stand for now."

If what Lee says is true then I guess we can expect to be seeing a lot more of the beautiful leggy Queenslander, not just in Vogue but in more and more ad campaigns, because this event can only stand to lift Catherine further up the ladder of Supermodel status.

Can't wait to see more of my favourite self confessed 'bogan form Logan' but until then...

Shoe Virginity?

Ok, so here's the deal. When I have a new dress or pair of shoes, the first time I wear them out, it either has to be somewhere that I'll be seen or with the perfect outfit-bottom line is that therefore they'll be appreciated before, the wear that is to come- and after that initial outing usually the item then becomes just like all my other clothes and accessories (still loved dearly though of course). This realization came after a recent splurge on some gorgeous pink-stereotype inducing-heels whilst on a shopping expedition with my girlfriends. The heels are now sitting in my cubboard like ladies in waiting just crying to be worn, but the thing is I want them to make their debut at the upcoming Brisbane Fashion Festival, that I shall be attending. So, my dilemma is, do I give in to their pleas and break em' out or do I save them for that special debut? God, looking at that question you'd have thought I was talking about my virginity! Maybe that's what it is? Shoe Virginity, once they're worn, they're worn and once it's gone, it's gone! But the question I have today is, Is anyone else like this or am I just plain weird? Is it normal for shoes to have a debut or should they just come out when the next opportunity arises?

In the meantime picture this, me. and my shoes. together. at home. all alone. sharing hot chocolate like sisters. Weird yet?
