Global Cup 2010 in Seoul
January 2010 started with a big bang for all nail enthusiasts at the Global Cup in Seoul sponsored and organized by Odyssey Nail Systems, where we ate, slept and dreamt Nails big time ! It could not have been more global with more than 24 participating countries in competition as well as in the Educator training.
Global Cup has also gone high tech with the judging done on laptops and results can be collected and tabulated instantly.
I'm so proud of my team South East Asia as they managed to sweep 5 awards and it was a great honor to share the same stage for super demo with nail maestros Juri Sato (Japan), Trang Nguyen (USA), Tamara Bhagoe (Netherlands) and Nam Gung Soo (Korea).

Went along with a friend last night to see her friends band play at The Zoo which was fun.
They're called Hello Yoko and I think they're kinda a mix of
folky/indie alternative with a dash of pop maybe a little bit Sarah Blasko meets Cat Power even?
Very cute band indeed. Unfortunately I think I may have annoyed one of
the girls with my camera's flash maybe as I was trying out a new lens and it was annoying me also?
Eh. Also got a bit of a request from the cool
doorman at Ric's which I'll tell you about later!

Went for the music and stayed for the locks.

Ok so life over the last week has been considerably fast paced including one catch up poker night, one gruelling day at work followed by partying it up at the LILY ALLEN sideshow and then the discovery of probably the best dressed band ever to grace the earth with their sexy motorcycle boots(seriously), at my favourite bar with a weird finale to my week in the form of a requisite dinner with some relative strangers. But more importantly who are the band in question? I believe they are called The Moderns, and their howling sound reminds me of the likes of another Brisbane band that went big, Wolfmother. You can find them here and here where they mention influences such as The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry and Neil Young; my favourite of their songs, Cheater.
But who really cares what their influences are when they're wearing copious amounts of knuckle decorations (bass) and a small red scarf tied at the waist (and that was just the drummer). Oh and did I mention they have the best long rocker hair that you have ever seen?
Dark brooding Kurt Cobain eat your heart out ladies!
Except for the vocals who had light blonde hair and a major penchant for the Mick Jagger moves which prompted him to interrupt the band's set for a short Jagger dance intermission where he proceeded to jump off stage and bop down the aisle and outside the bar executing the best Mick impersonation that you've ever seen and it was all courtesy of his "Mick Jagger" shoes which were a pair of fluoro Nike kicks.
Oh and did I mention they have SUBLIME hair? Ah it melts my heart. Crap. Unavailable rocker boys will just break your heart. Stupid Amazing Rocker hair.

I am so sick of summer. I find it incredibly difficult to just
throw on any non-descript item of clothing with ease and still
manage to look presentable. Aka none of this floral tropical hot
island dressing that I'm channeling here ha ha! Anyway this dress,
my mum was just about to throw out but I grabbed it knowing that it
would be relatively cool and breezy in this ridiculous heat and the
shoes, I have not worn in ageeeeesssssss!
On a small side note, I went to see Lily Allen, Calvin Harris and Dizzy
Rascal play on Tuesday and Oh my effing gossip girl were they good!!!
I am now a Lily convert and her costumes ow don't get me started they were
sublime!!!! PERFECT!!!! Ahh I am so tired now I should go to bed and will
tell you about the night before, instead tomorrow!

Before people start going crackers about my un-ironed blouse may I say in my defence that I had
to do this in a hurry before I dropped my brother at work. So ladies and gentleman the answer is
no I would not go outside the house without ironing my shirt first. I also realise that some of
you may not have noticed it until I pointed it out. Doh.
Regardless I shall try and get some more of these from now on, provided I continue
to have ammo for blackmailing my brother into taking them.

Actually a couple of weeks ago one of my work friends asked me if I believed it was much more difficult now for us to find/explore/discover/invent new things because so much has already been done. I used to have these same thoughts when I was about fourteen but that is in no way to say that they are juvenile thoughts, just that I came to my conclusion after a couple of years in thinking that, I don't believe this is the case because there are so many millions of people in the world and if just a few of them are conditioned to think a little differently (and there is bound to be a dozen or so...I've seen it), well then there is the chance that we can keep discovering new things and continue to think in new ways.
Simply put, I don't think we're running out of possibilities but instead just creating more opportunities for these possibilities of discovery and new thought. But this is where my thoughts on the issue end on a good day; on a bad day I ask whether or not I can be one of these people? So I just tell myself that along the way you have to be given a bit of luck to be one of these people.
So when you get your luck, try using it to be someone you can only imagine.
