Magazine Addicts Anonymous.

Image: seanblanda.com
Ok so it's official. I am officially an addict and I'm not even exagerating! This morning upon arrival at a nearby newsagent I realised that I had now become a self confessed magazine addict.
Dictionary.com defines an addict as;

"to cause to become physiologically or psychologically dependent on an addictive substance, as alcohol or a narcotic."

Saddly this is just a discription of me and my magazine compulsion. Because as I approached this said newsagent this morning with my friend M, I realised that like a perfect addict, I had already planned which magazine was to be purchased today. Yes I already new what day, time, specific newsagent and magazine I was going to before it was even in my arms-ok so maybe I didn't know which newsagent, that one I got wrong. But after my guilty purchase of the latest issue of OYSTER magazine I realised I was obsessed, with a total of 5 magazines purchased this/last month(June issues) and with 1 subscription (vogue) I have a total of 6 magazines from the one month. O Dear God. The list of notables are, Oyster, Vogue Australia, Russh, Hapers Bazaar UK, Teen Vogue and Doing Bird.
You see the thing is I'm not sure that I can stop? I mean I see a favourite model or a special article and I just have to have the issue, is that really such a horrible thing? The answer probably is yes considering altogether that is a total of about $50 in one month on magazines minus the Vogue subscription. Hmm I think its safe to say that I won't be running out of reading material anytime soon!
So, tell me what it is that your addicted to at the moment or how many magazines you bought last month? Cause we all know that I'm not the only one out there, Am I?
Love Always xoxo

Battle of the Covergirls!

Latest issue of Russh Australia Magazine

UK Harper's Bazaar sporting an unblemished Miranda Kerr

Yesterday on my way home I called in to pick up the latest issue of Russh because after the whole nude 16yr old issue* I was afraid that they might take it off the stands. Thankfully when I walked inside the newsagent after a momentary panic I found my beloved down the bottom of the long list of fashion magazines. But before I arrived at my fashion destination my eyes flashed upon an angelic image of the stunner, Miss Kerr. Her shinning exterior temporarilly blinded me but I soon came to my senses-or sense considering sight is only one of the 5, sense- and quickly grabbed at the April issue of UK Harper's Bazaar-which I thought I'd missed- and made a beeline for the counter so that I could quickly devour both of my coveted magazines from cover to cover. Once again I hoped on the bus and made my way home with a smile on my dile and a Miranda in my bag-a!

* For those of you not in the Know ACA a couple of nights ago flashed a story-pun intended- about a 16yr old model in the magazine whose breasts were exposed in a shot. Many organizations are planning on suing the magazine for this bad publicity that they are recieving and etc etc because of the 'indecent' nature of the photograph displaying the organizations in a bad light. Oh and FYI it's apparently against the law?

Indiaspirational...The new trend inspired by India.

Vogue Australia April Issue with Catherine McNeil
Vogue Australia April Issue with Catherine McNeil

Spring Summer of 2008 O.P.I Nail collection

Campaign: Lakshmi Menon for Hermes spring/summer 08 shot by Thierry Le Goues
The Catalyst: Australian Vogue October 2007

Lately I've begun to notice that everything is turning Indian inspired! Everyday I find something new that stems its roots from India! Just yesterday I was talking to my equally understanding fashion friend J who further proved my point by reminding me about the new Hermes ad campaign staring indian model, Lakshmi Menon and a number of other impressively photogenic elephants (literally) ; but this is not where the trend began. You may remember. 'may' what am I talking about? You 'should' remember late last year the editorial from the September issue of UK VOGUE and October issue of Australian Vogue with Gemma Ward on the front cover in those striking blonde dread locks and the huge yellow overcoat. This, is where I think the trend has evolved from. The bright colours, funky knits and vibrant/cultural vibe of the shoot was the bold catalyst for the campaigns and collections to come! Next on my list of all things Indian is the latest Spring/Summer 08 collection by nail giant, O.P.I, entitled, india. The bold collection of colours were inspired by the 'vivid, warm and enchanting' colours of traditional indian culture.

Further indorsement of this growing trend is last months edition of Australian Vogue. The SUPERLATIVE photoshoot; Maharani moment, staring S.A.A favourite, Logan local and 'Indian Princess' Catherine McNeil was a true indicator if you're still not convinced of this whole Indian trend. The stunning McNeil, photographer Richard Bailey and fashion team at Aussie Vogue really captured the juxtaposition between the countries lavish opulence and impoverished bare under layer. Last of all in my list of small influences is last months edition of Russh which also caught onto the craze! With a Bindi clad model pouting terrificly whilst sporting the colourful accessory; it's no wonder why I've already started to bug my indian/hindu friend about where it is she gets hers from!

Can't wait to see you all in your cute Indian motifs and colourful clothes soon!!

Love always xoxo
