Following in his Footsteps

With all of the Couture shows for fall 08 dead and done its time to take a look at the best and why not start with but the epitome, Valentino Fall 08 Couture. The show began with a structured skirt suit not unlike something you'd find at a Balenciaga show. The collection was the first for Valentino's new head designer Alessandra Facchinetti and as expected there were a few slip ups in judgment -though very minor- but otherwise went unnoticed due to the overall success that the collection brought. Facchinetti stayed true to Valentino's classic lunch suits and red dresses but brought a new air of confidence to the classics with her definitive shape shifting and delicate intricacies and detailing. Overall there was success for the new designer who shouldn't be missing a beat with the up coming Spring collection to work on.

ANTM Winner not to expect Predecessor's Glory

Following the win of 16yr old Demelza Reveley on the much hyped Foxtel show, Australia's Next Top Model, the news following the teen has been nothing but bad. Accused of Bullying fellow contestant, Alamela Rowan and having Australian fashion heavy weight, Kirstie Clements vote against her Demelza can expect her up coming shoot with Australian Vogue to be no where near the success that it was for last season's winner, Alice Burdeu, who not only was granted her promised shoot but who also landed the coveted cover. Being described as “ such an exceptional case,” by Australian Vogue's Editor-in-Chief, Kirstie Clements, I think it would be necessary to give Reveley just a small piece of advice, which would be to stay well clear of Clements if possible on the day of the shoot unless on the other hand, she has a death wish.

Guess who I spotted at the 2008 Fall Couture Shows? Australian model, Tallulah Morton! One of my favourite Aussie girls has made appearances in two shows so far at Paris's Fall Haute Couture Fashion week. Tallulah, the long haired beauty, has walked for both Alexis Mabille and the prestigious Jean Paul Gaultier. Modeling a knit hoop skirt dress at Gaultier and two other creations for Mabille, Morton looks set for a stellar season ahead.

That dress. Yes, that one we all love. The Miu Miu body con Fit'n'flare dress. First seen on the likes of Kirstin Dunst in the ad campaign and then spotted on celebrities alike. Why is it such a stunner? Is it the sheer simplicity of the thing or is it the fact that it can only be worn by girls with stick legs which therefore means that it has no chance at looking anything but enviable? Well it could be because of either of those reasons, but who cares I mean it's not like I'll be wearing it anytime soon!
For starters I don't have the bank account and don't even get me started on the legs that go with it either.
But more importantly was I lying when I said that we all adore this dress or was I just being a little prejudiced?
